More often lately there seems to be a push for more extreme sports, pushing ones self to the limits of physical endurance, but is it really safe? Yes and No. If you are healthy, pay regular visits to your physician, and gradually increase the level at which you push your body, and above all use common sense, then generally yes more extreme sports can be a healthy activity.

The no qualification comes in, when the risk factor is high. Paragliding, parachuting, mountain climbing have a higher risk. Being on the ocean extreme windsurfing has a risk of injury. Drowning for example, injuring your head, your limbs, or even a shark attack if you are in an area frequented by sharks. But truthfully unless you have been participating in a sport all your life, leave the extreme sports to the younger crowd.

The good news is that the more fit you are, if by chance you are injured, you will heal faster. Being active is better for your health than being inactive and obese. By being active you will enjoy life more, even if you are in a higher risk sport. Being inactive, and obese carries health risks of its own. Use your own judgment and common sense, but being active is  better for your health.
