There are tons of fancy exercise gadgets out there, many
costing thousands of dollars. All too often these devices
end up taking up valuable space in our recreation rooms,
garages and, studies collecting dust soon after they are
purchased. So who needs them?
Can the simple act of walking 20 minutes a day really save
your life? Generally yes! Walking is a great exercise, and
barring injury, disease or joint problems, can be done for
your whole life. Not only is it good for you physically,
toning your muscles. It is good for your cardiovascular
system, lymphatic system, and it's good for you mentally. It
helps to reduce your daily stress, a huge factor in
cardiovascular problems later in life.
So get out there, a good pair of shoes, comfortable loose
fitting clothes and you're off. After you get going you'll
find yourself seeking other great places to walk, perhaps
for a weekend or a short holiday. If you need a walker or
can or other walking aide, consult your doctor, but get the
aide and get moving.
Exercise in general, like walking will also serve to suppress
your appetite if you find yourself a little famished, take a
short 20 minute walk first... you'll end up eating
less and burning up some calories to boot!
